Ava Biesterfeld

From a young age, I have always been an athlete. I’ve had many coaches over the years. But in some of the hardest moments of my life I did not have the kind of coach I needed. When I was 10 years old I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. My life changed forever. Sport became a liability, nutrition became something to achieve, and health became something I was actively trying not to lose. During that time I needed someone who could understand my situation and guide me through it. This is exactly who I decided to become.

Sport and fitness has been the foundation for getting me to where I am today. I hold state champion titles in gymnastics and national and international champion titles in Olympic Weightlifting. I played volleyball, basketball, track and field, tennis, and now I actively pursue the highest level of Olympic Weightlifting.

Today, my goal as a coach is to help people improve their health, performance, and quality of life through nutrition and fitness.

When I was in high school, my grandpa was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and passed away only a few months later. He was the only person in my life who truly understood what it meant to live with Type 1 diabetes.

At the time, I was reckless with my health. I was reactive rather than proactive, often waiting until something went wrong before taking care of myself. I pushed through pain and ignored signs that I needed to make changes, not because I didn’t care, but because I didn’t yet know how to take responsibility for my health.

Losing my grandpa forced me to reevaluate the direction of my life. From that point on, I dedicated myself to learning how to better care for both my physical and mental health. I pursued education in Nutrition and Dietetics, committed myself to Olympic Weightlifting, and developed the habits and mindset that continue to shape who I am today.

I learned that while you don’t get to choose the cards you're dealt, you do get to decide what you do with them.

I am passionate about helping people become stronger and healthier versions of themselves. Whether someone is striving to improve athletic performance, build sustainable nutrition habits, or better manage a chronic health condition, my goal is to provide the education, structure, and support they need to succeed long term. I aspire to be the person I needed when I was struggling with my health and fitness journey.

I coach athletes with chronic disease, elite Olympic weightlifters, everyday athletes, youth athletes, and those looking to improve their overall health and longevity.
